27 May PREVIEW: AWAY vs Grammar Gold - GOLD!

Hi folks

The draw is up (!) and our first game is AWAY vs Grammar Gold - GOLD! - at Shore Road 1a at 9:15am.  Here's a map:

Shore Road, Newmarket

Please meet at 8:40am at the field.  This will be my first time at Shore Road, but from memory the reports are that parking is a nightmare, so please allow 5 - 10 mins extra time to get parked and to the ground.  If it turns out parking is okay at that time of the morning, then we will have extra warm up time. :D

A couple of notes on the draw

1.  The draw uploaded lists games right through to 26 August.  Please do not take the draw at face value though.  The ARU (Auckland Rugby Union) have noted that they will make adjustments to the draw and move teams around at any time to attempt to even up the competitiveness of each of the pools ("sections").  Sooooo, please make sure to keep a wary eye on the draw up to and including the morning of the game.

2.  Please also note the times listed are a little inconsistent.  In the past, the games at College Rifles are usually 1 hour earlier than normal (ie 8:15am kickoffs), and the same is likely true of games at May Road (ie 10:15am kickoffs) due to the restrictions on space at the grounds, but generally our games should be at 9:15am.  If there is an adjustment, I'd expect it to be made at some stage over the next couple of weeks before it effects us.  To be clear though, we'll always take the time as listed on the draw as correct.

3.  We have been listed in the top pool based on our two wins in the grading games.  That means we will have a mix of really competitive teams and those that had good draws during grading.  Which the Mighty Penguins is will be revealed in the fullness of time, but please measure your expectations for the boys.  Bottom line is we want everyone to be out on the field, giving it heaps, showing their skills and enjoying their footy, whatever the result.  We'll save the cut throat, ruthless analysis of our games for the U9s.

As always, if you can't make it for any reason, please let Nick or I know ASAP.  Let us know if you have any other questions, otherwise we'll see you all in the big city at Shore Road on Saturday morning.

Cheers,
Paul

WE ARE PENGUUUUUIIIIIIIINNNNNNSSSSS!!!!
