Game PREVIEW: 26 August 2017 HOME vs Grammar Gold (Gold!)

Image
Hi folks And now, the end is near, and we will face the final regular season game against an old friend, Grammar Gold (Gold!). This time around we get to host them, so we will meet at 8:40am at Lloyd Elsmore Park 2a, ready to put it all out on the field! You will hopefully have seen Nick's email on the afternoon's festivities at Eden Park - hopefully the weather holds and we have a cracking end to our season.  Thanks heaps to Nick for organising this event for the team - I know all the boys will really enjoy it. See you at training tonight, and at Lloyd Elsmore Park and Eden Park Saturday. Go Penguins!!!!

Game 29 July PREVIEW: HOME vs Pakuranga Blackhawks

Hi folks Subject to ground closures, our game this weekend is at HOME vs the Pakuranga Blackhawks on Lloyd Elsmore Park 2A. Due to a lack of training opportunities, we will meet at 8:30am and hopefully get that structure we were starting to show at our last game, back into play again. Please keep an eye out on the ARU fixtures page and your inbox and cell phone as the forecast is for showers over the next couple of days.  I note that field 2A is open today, so hopefully our game goes ahead no matter what. As you know, the Penguins and Black Hawks are named after NHL Ice Hockey teams.  Not that there is any correlation, but here are the results of those two teams over the last two years: Pittsburgh Penguins 2016 - Champions 2017 - Champions Chicago Blackhawks 2016 - knocked out Western Conference 1st Round of playoffs 2017 - knocked out Western Conference 1st Round of playoffs Cheers, Paul

Game 1 July PREVIEW: AWAY vs Carlton Green... the green grass of Cornwall Park

Image
Hi folks Our game this week is AWAY vs Carlton Green at Cornwall Park 2a.  Our meet time for the game is 8:40am sharp.  As always (if you haven't already), please let Nick and myself know if you are unable to make the game as soon as you're able. Here is a map to the ground: You will note the grounds are the part of Cornwall Park that extends behind the ASB Showgrounds.  As you go travel along Greenlane Road West, instead of turning left into Corwall Park / One Tree Hill, you turn right at those lights on to Puriri Drive.  You'll see the rugby fields on the right (just past the rugby league club rooms). See you all Saturday ready for another round of Penguins awesomeness!!! Paul

10 June REVIEW: HOME vs College Rifles Shooters

Image
Your Mighty Penguins (tm) finally got to play at home (in the Igloo!) at Lloyd Elsmore Park today against a solid College Rifles Shooters team.  The sun was shining, the temperature was decidedly, fortunately, not sub antarctic and some pretty decent footy got played. The Penguins took a little while to get in the game - with the Shooters living up to their name and firing right from the kickoff.  Your heroes started to turn the tide when were able to put some pressure on the Shooters ball runners, with Josh, J-Dub and Sean all getting stuck in and moving "up" hard and fast on the tap. So after a slow start, the Mighty Penguin Big Orange and Green Forward Machine (tm) started revving up.  Leading the way were Michael and Mason - cleaning Shooters out of the way time and time again, and Joey working hard to support them when the Machine cleared the path.  Two way player Jake then showed he wears his undies outside his jeans, by Superman-ing out the Shooters forwar...

Weigh in tonight!

Hi folks A reminder the weigh in is tonight at the club.  Please be there at 5:10pm ready to go! Paul
